Getting Crafty

Wells and I get pretty bored some days and unfortunately for us, today was one of them. We were bored by about 10:00 am so rather than veg to the tv all morning or make our tenth train track set up of the day, I decided that we would be a little crafty.
Wellyn, as of late, has been obsessed with snowmen. We still talk to the one outside his bedroom window, we sing "Once There was a Snowman" multiple times a day, and whenever driving in the car he loves to hear and sing "Frosty the Snowman." Today he wanted to go outside and use the little snow that we had left and make another snowman. No way I am getting out there with my fat butt so I decided we could make snowmen out of socks.
I filled the socks with rice and then used elastics to make it into the shape of a snowman. I then took off his nice shirt, put the apron on him, and turned him loose with the markers. He loved it!
Since I am not a crafty person I had no crafty things to glue to the snowman so we got creative. I used sticks from my lilac bush for the arms and cut up an old washcloth for the scarf.
He is choosing the perfect color right here:)

Finished products drying on the counter

I wanted an after picture with the proud creator but I got in his way of Spongebob. At least he humored me with a half smile. He is trying to see over my shoulder and to the side so it gives him the double chin affect. Now we can't wait for Daddy to come home to show off our project.
Only about 4 more months of winter:)

Season's First Snowman

Wellyn LOVES the snow! When it snowed on Saturday he could hardly contain himself. Since he just learned "Once There was a Snowman" song he has been a little obsessed with them:) Sunday after church Jon took Wells outside in his new snowpants and they built a snowman. Wellyn can't get enough of it. Jon put some forethought into it and built it in front of Wellyn's bedroom window. We say good morning, good night, and many other things to the snowman throughout the day.
Knowing that we will spend a lot of time in the snow this season now all we need is to find some real snow gloves, not the little knit ones:)

Tis the Season

Last Saturday was the perfect weather and since we didn't know if we would have another good Saturday Jon climbed up and put up the Christmas lights. Wellyn loves having the lights up (even though we don't turn them on until Thanksgiving) and I love it because it is the beginning of the end! The Christmas music has started, the lights are up, the stores are ready, and that means the baby is coming:) Two more weeks until Thanksgiving and then it officially starts! Welcome to the Holiday Season!!!

One Most Fabulous Day

Halloween is the awesomest holiday when you are a kid....or Jon:) Saturday was filled with good times and WAY too much candy. We actually started off the celebrations by going trick-or-treating on base at Uncle Dave's work on Thursday. We hiked from cubicle to cubicle and the kids got so much candy that their buckets were completely filled. Thanks Dave!
At this point Wells is way into this whole idea of saying trick-or-treat and someone gives you candy for free. He still does it at home thinking if he says it, I will give him candy.
Thursday night we met up at Jon's sister Brittany and her hubby Cris' and we carved pumpkins.
Saturday everyone met up early at Jon's parents to set up for the annual Price spook alley. I played Halloween Scrooge and didn't dress up or participate in the spook alley this year. I played mom and took Wells out and then handed out candy.
Everyone had a great time playing their desired roles this Halloween whether it was a mom, witch at the fire, or a goblin jumping out of a gravesite.
Here is the little Frankenstein showing his scary face for the camera.

Jon took Wells around the block with me the first round of trick-or-treating and then after that it was Cora, Wellyn, and me that hit the streets.

Here is Jon in his costume. He helped hand out candy to the kids who actually were brave enough to make it through the spook alley.

This year was probably the scariest year of all and was really successfull. They were busy the whole two hours they were open and even had people show up after wanting to go through. Jon and his siblings have a serious talent for this sort of thing. Thanks to everyone for such a fabulous holiday. One down and just a few more to go until I am done being prego!

Drugged and Lovin It

Wells finally has all his teeth-FINALLY! The last of the molars came in this summer while we were on vacation. 2 1/2 years and we are about to start the process all over again:)
When Wellyn's molars came in one didn't completely develop all the way which left a big black spot in the middle. We could see it just by looking at the tooth and although it didn't hurt too much we weren't sure if it was a cavity or what. A few weeks ago we took Wells to his first dentist appointment and of course the dentist noticed the spot first thing. He said it wasn't a cavity yet, but a soft spot in the enamel that never hardened and would eventually become a cavity and cause pain.
On Monday the 26th I took Wells to have a filling put in the tooth. I was extremely nervous because I had images of me and three hygenists pinning Wells to a table why a mean dentist relentlessly drilled at Wellyn's mouth. I knew they were going to do a nasal sedation but in a small percentage of kids it does just the opposite and gives them an adrenalin boost which of course would be my son.
Luckily for me and my nerves it worked perfectly. Wellyn LOVED the drugs!!! The hygenist said it would make him see two of everything and it really did. Wellyn kept doing a funny giggle and waving to both dentists (there was only one) and saying "Hi Dr." while laughing. There was also a television right above him and "Shrek" was playing and he kept laughing at the two donkeys. I should have felt sorry for him but the hygenist as well as myself couldn't quit laughing. Wellyn even tried to walk with my help but couldn't move his legs so he swayed back and forth which made him laugh harder than ever.
Here he is waving at me:) He was awake the whole time but extremely relaxed.

They finished the whole thing in about ten minutes and the dentist said he did better than he ever expected Wells to do.
Coming off the meds wasn't so great because Wells cried for about an hour and a half but at least it is over with. Wellyn doesn't even remember a thing and that is probably for the best!:)

Halloween Activities

Last Saturday we were able to join Jon's sister Brittany and cousins Cora and Jonas for a little Halloween fun. Brittany's sister-on-law belongs to a group of young mothers who get together once a month for a play date on steroids (seriously like 30 kids). Two of the members happen to belong to the family that owns the Punkinaze down the street so they held the activity there this month. There were games, prizes, trick or treating, of course the corn maze, and the huge slides they are famous for. Britt and I didn't know very many people but we had an absolute blast as did the kids.
Here is Wells posing behind one of their many Halloween cutouts.
Of course the slide. I should have put a pic of the full slide because it is like 20 feet high and quite the ride. Wells couldn't get enough and was upset when we pulled him away for the games. He has since asked me daily to go back to the big slide.

After trick or treating with the group. We didn't get the costume memo but Wells didn't care because he still got all the loot.

Later that evening we met back up with Brittany, Cris, the kids, and Bridget and Ryan and we headed out to Hooper park where they had their pumpkin walk. This is our favorite park to go to during the summer and to see it lit up at night was awesome. They had over 2000 luminaries, little scary pumpkin scenes, and thanks to Brittany and her young women they had an Old Glory made out of flags.
Way to go Britt it was beautiful:)

Cora and Wells walking amongst the luminaries.

Of course the family pic. Pretty much the same pose as usual:)

Afterwards we all took a trip to Maverik for what was supposed to be a hot chocolate run but it turned out to be a candy, donut, ice cream, or chip run instead.
Thanks to Jon's siblings especially Brittany for such an awesome Saturday.

The curse words of a mommy

Let's face it, before I had Wellyn I could probably make most truckers and sailors blush with some of the language that I used. I don't know how it all started but once I was in the habit it was really hard to break. I had to watch my language around my family as well as Jon's so that I wouldn't offend anyone. I believe there were times when I actually offended my own soul mate with the words or phrases I used. :)
Since having Wellyn and especially since he now talks and copies the things I say; I have cleaned up considerably and without even really meaning too. I now find myself saying phrases such as:
Oh my stars!
Oh Lauzi!
Oh heavens and earth!
Winner winner chicken dinner (thanks Chandie for that one)
See you later Alligator or In a while crocodile!
Silly Monkey!
Son of a Monkey's uncle!
Oh poop!
Crappy!
and other such phrases. It isn't even just around Wellyn. I get wierd looks from people at work when I uses one of these phrases or excuse myself to go use the "potty."
The crazy thing is, is that I absolutely love it! I mean, I still have a ways to go and still have some cleaning up to do especially around certain adults but it cracks me up. If I stub my toe or get cut off by someone on the freeway I don't even have to think about sensoring for Wells it automatically happens. I actually surprise myself now if something else slips out instead because it feels so unnatural!
I had to post this because I have noticed it quite a bit lately. I think Jon thinks I am a dork and I'm sure some of you will roll your eyes at this but I am very proud of myself. This next baby will have it made, I just hope Wells doesn't remember some of the language from his earlier life:)
